Scott does great in this beautiful and inspirational song. Judy Garland also does a great version even more powerful! She sang it on her television show in 1964 and it can be watched here on RUclips. If anyone else is a lover of this beautiful and mostly forgotten song, please watch her video !!!🤔🤗👍
You are so right about Garland. I've been listening to this song from lots of singers (LOL going down a RUclips hole) and hers is by far the best. All the others are concentrating on the beauty inherent in the music, but she's not trying for beauty. Of course it IS beautiful, but it's because of her impassioned delivery. She's not my favorite singer, but I think hers is the definitive version. It's a revelation.
In pop and contemporary music there are two male voices that absolutely stand out: Scott's, and Colin Blunstone's. (okay, and Andy Williams) Colin still "has it". (five years ago I was at a Blunstone/Argent concert), but Scott... From 1995 on, his albums featured a "new" voice: high-pitched, reedy. And the compositions were abstract and surrealistic. Scott was my god in light music, I was SO angry! :--))
Shockingly underrated, just superb track
Scott giving us a glimpse of the magic he so often found. RIP Scott you were the best.
I'm in love with him... what a voice!
I'm a confirmed groupee! I can't get enough of his velvet voice! Frank Sinatra sang this song. Near perfection. Scott is perfection!❤
18jan23 what a voice. Every word word is clear . Keith Stevenson

What a voice he had. Didn't like much of his later stuff.
Who wrote this song? Yes, I googled it and got no answer.
It'S from the broadway musical 'Lost in the stars"
Kurt Weill wrote it. Same guy who wrote Mack the Knife.
@@MrAjcalhoun Maxwell Anderson wrote the libretto, based on "Cry The Beloved Country." It was Weill's last compositional work before his death in '50.
Simply the best song ever written and sung by the best singer
Wow!
